MUSICAL JOURNEY

I've been singing my entire life. Starting in the church choir at the age of 5 and joining the Minnesota Boychoir when I was 8, I studied classical singing. As part of the Boychoir, I was able to travel to perform in Spain, France, and other parts of the US. And through the church, I had the opportunity to be in an opera!

My middle school years were filled with various theater and musical theater performances that influenced my expression as an artist. The theater allowed me to explore what being a performer truly meant- commitment, practice, camaraderie, teamwork, and mutual respect required to let people lean into their artistry. When COVID hit I wasn't able to perform as an actor, so I leaned into my musicality.

I had already taken drum and piano lessons, and during this time I taught myself how to play the guitar and bass. My studies were mostly through watching YouTube videos explaining areas I was interested in like; music theory, performance, instrument technique, and various other subjects.

For high school, I chose to attend the Saint Paul Conservatory for the Performing Arts (SPCPA) to study music as part of their instrumental and vocal program. While attending the school, I began writing original songs, eventually recording and releasing some of them. For the past year, I’ve been performing my originals at various venues.

Recently, I was hired as a composer for an ad campaign that eventually won a few awards. I’ve attended the Berklee Aspire 5-week summer program in 2024. I’ve worked as a producer collaborating and writing music with others. I’ve been playing in pit orchestras for various musicals and continued my playing as a church musician.

I am passionate and excited to continue my exploration of music by learning more about performance and the art of teaching music to others.
